Arusha, 06 November 2024: The African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (the Court/AfCHPR) will hold its 75th Ordinary Session from 11 November to 6 December 2024 at the Seat of the Court in Arusha, the United Republic of Tanzania. During the session, the Court will hold a series of events.
On Tuesday 12 November 2024, the Court will hold a Compliance Hearing in (Application No 006/2012) – African Commission on Human and People’s Rights v Republic of Kenya, the first of such under Rule 81 of the 2020 Rules of Court.
On Wednesday 13 November 2024, the Court will deliver judgments in the following ten (10) cases:
- Application No. 012/2018, Glory Cyriaque Houssou v. Republic of Benin
- Application No. 015/2018, Kija Nestory Jinyamu v. United Republic of Tanzania
- Application No. 023/2018, Rashidi Romani Nyerere v United Republic of Tanzania
- Application No. 024/2018, Gerald Koloso Kalonge v United Republic of Tanzania
- Application No. 027/2018, Lamek Bazil v United Republic of Tanzania
- Application No. 030/2018, Edison Simon Mwombeki v United Republic of Tanzania
- Application No. 029/2019, Moussa Doumbia v. Republic of Côte d’Ivoire
- Application No. 037/2020, Harouna Dicko v. Burkina Faso
- Application No. 016/2021, Samia Zorgati v Republic of Tunisia
- Application No. 001/2022, Misozi Charles Chanthunya v. Republic of Malawi
The Compliance Hearing and delivery of judgments will commence at 10:00AM (East African Time) and will be accessible via live streaming in both English and French. For the Public Hearing, simultaneous interpretation will be available in Arabic, English, French and Kiswahili.

The Court will consider eight (8) applications and deal with a number of administrative matters.

- The African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (AfCHPR) is a continental court established by African countries to ensure the protection of human and peoples’ rights in Africa. The Court is an organ of the African Union and it complements and reinforces the functions of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
