Arusha, 10 November 2025: The African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (AfCHPR) will convene its 79th Ordinary Session from 17 November to 5 December 2025 in Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania.
The Court will consider applications pending before it and hold deliberations on other related judicial matters.
The Court will continue preparations for its 20th Anniversary Commemorations in 2026, which will feature a year-long series of activities across the continent, highlighting the Court’s achievements, challenges and contribution to protecting human and peoples’ rights over the past two decades.
The activities will include a variety of public outreach, educational and visibility activities designed to raise awareness about the Court’s work, deepen understanding of its mandate, and promote access to justice across the continent.
The anniversary commemorations will also further serve as a moment to acknowledge and appreciate the valuable contributions of Member States, partners and other stakeholders who have supported the Court’s mission and mandate over the past two decades.
