Arusha, 1 June, 2016: The African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (AfCHPR) on Friday, (3rd June,2016), will deliver four judgments and a ruling as the three weeks 41st Ordinary Session of the Judges comes to close at its seat in Arusha, Tanzania
They are:
1. Application 002/2013—African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights v. Libya
2. Application 004/2013—Lohé Issa Konaté v. Republic of Burkina Faso
3. Application 007/2013– Mohamed Abubakari v. United Republic of Tanzania
4. Application 003/2014—Ingabire Victoire Umuhoza v. Republic of Rwanda
5. Application 001/2012—Frank David Omary v.United Republic of Tanzania
The judgments and ruling will be delivered at the Kibo Hall at the AfCHPR premises at the Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) building, Burka area, along Dodoma Road, at 10:00 am (East African time) and the public is warmly invited. The judgments and ruling will also be live streamed via the link http://original.livestream.com/afchpr
The Judges, among others, during the session examined over 50 applications and four requests for Advisory Opinions.
NOTES FOR EDITORS:
1. The Court is composed of eleven judges, nationals of Member States of the African Union elected in their individual capacity.
2. The Court meets four times a year in Ordinary Sessions and may meet in Extra-Ordinary Session.
3. Up to 31st May, 2016, the Court had received 102 applications of which 23 have been finalized. Four applications have been transferred to the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
