The African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (AfCHPR) on Wednesday received Her Excellency Anne-Sophie Avé, Ambassador of France to the United Republic of Tanzania, who paid a courtesy visit to the President of the Court, Honourable Justice Blaise Tchikaya.
The President was accompanied by the Deputy Registrar, Ms. Grace Wakio Kakai, and other officials of the Court.
Discussions focused on the work and mandate of the Court, including ongoing efforts to enhance case management systems, as well as its engagement and collaboration with other international and regional judicial bodies.
H.E Avé also commended the Court’s exhibition marking its 20th anniversary, highlighting its role in showcasing the Court’s journey, milestones and impact over the past two decades.
She further visited the Court’s Library, where she expressed appreciation for the range of legal and research resources made available to support access to justice and human rights development.
The exchange also highlighted areas of mutual interest, with the Court reaffirming its commitment to strengthening cooperation, while the French Embassy expressed its readiness to support initiatives of mutual interest, including in areas such as cooperation and capacity-building.
