Arusha, 03 March 2026: The African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (AfCHPR) has officially launched its revamped website, www.african-court.org on the margins of the Solemn Ceremony marking the Opening of its 2026 Judicial Year and the commencement of its 20th Anniversary commemoration at its Seat in Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania.
The Solemn Ceremony was graced by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, as Guest of Honour.
During the event, the President of the Court, Honourable Justice Blaise Tchikaya, formally declared the launch of the Commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the Court and the new website.
“I take great pleasure in launching the Court’s new official website, a renewed digital platform designed to enhance accessibility, transparency and engagement with all stakeholders, he said.
Redesigned with improved functionality and a more user-friendly interface, the website provides easier access to judgments, orders, advisory opinions, press releases, news updates and other developments of the Court’s work.
An exhibition showcasing the new website, up-coming e-library platform, landmark decisions and other key milestones and achievements of the Court over the past two decades was presented to President Mahama and it highlighted the website’s enhanced features, improved accessibility and alignment with African Union brand guidelines.
During the exhibition, Senior Information and Communication Officer and Head of Communication Unit, Chipiliro Kansilanga Ngué explained that the revamped website has been designed to be user-friendly and accessible to all stakeholders by providing simplified navigation, improved search functionality and easier access to the Court’s decisions and other key resources.
“Our goal was to create a user-friendly platform that makes the Court’s work accessible to everyone, not only legal experts,” she said.
The revamped site also introduces optimized access across devices, ensuring that legal practitioners, researchers, Member States, civil society organisations, other stakeholders including the general public can more efficiently engage with the Court’s work.
It further provides easy access to the Court’s latest decisions, updated case statistics and enhanced visual content. In addition, the integrated e-library provides 24/7 electronic access to books, journals, research publications and other legal resources.
The new website will also house African Jurisprudence Database (AJUDATA), a ground-breaking initiative aimed at establishing a comprehensive, thematically organized online database for African International Courts and Tribunals.
The redesigned website offers multilingual access in Arabic, English, French and Portuguese, ensuring that stakeholders across the continent can engage with the Court’s work in their preferred official language.

- The African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (AfCHPR) is a continental court established by African Union Member States to ensure the protection of human and peoples’ rights in Africa.
