Arusha, 13 April, 2018: The African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (AfCHPR) will begin its 49th Ordinary Session on Monday, 16th April 2018, at its seat in Arusha, the United Republic of Tanzania.
The Judges, among others, will examine over 15 applications during the four-week session to stretch up to 11 May, 2018. Five Judgments and three Public Hearings are scheduled during the period.
NOTES FOR EDITORS:
1. The Court is composed of eleven Judges, nationals of Member States of the African Union elected in their individual capacity.
2. The Court meets four times a year in Ordinary Sessions and may hold Extra-Ordinary Sessions.
3. As at 1 April 2018, the Court had received 166 applications and has finalized 37.
