Arusha, 5 November 2023: The African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (AfCHPR) will begin its 71st Ordinary Session on Monday, 6 November 2023 in the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.
The Judges, among others, will deliberate on thirteen (13) applications during the four-week session that will close on 4 December 2023.
The Solemn Opening Ceremony will be on 7 November 2023 followed by the delivery of 9 judgments listed below:

- Application No. 033/2016 – Makungu Misalaba v. United Republic of Tanzania
- Application No. 034/2016 – Juma Haruna v. United Republic of Tanzania

- Application No. 049/2016 – Chrizant John v. United Republic of Tanzania
- Application No. 014/2017 – Hassan Bundala Swaga v. United Republic of Tanzania

- Application No. 022/2018 – Youssouf Traoré and Others v. Republic of Mali
- Application No. 011/2021 – Lehady Vinangnon Soglo v. Republic of Benin

During the session in Algeria, the Court intends to conduct courtesy visits to High-Level Government representatives and the Bar Association to raise awareness about the Court’s mandate and functions.
