Mission description<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is envisaged that the mission will provide the technical expertise for preparation of a comparative study on amicable settlement drawing on the experiences of similar human rights courts. The findings of the study will inform the development of an internal guide for the Court\u2019s use in management of the amicable settlement process and an external \/practice guide for use by litigants on the procedure on amicable settlement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project or context description<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The scope of the AGA-SP project covers the objectives of the 2018-2022 Joint Africa-EU Strategy (JAES) that defines \u201cStrengthening Resilience, Peace, Security and Governance\u201d as one of four key priorities and also the Memorandum of Understanding on Peace, Security and Governance between the African Union and the EU, signed in May 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, the project addresses the goal of the AU to reinforce good governance, Human Rights and democratic participation of African citizens. It aims at reinforcing the action of key AGA organs in a specific number of areas, improving Human Rights tools compliance and enhancing AGA visibility up to the local level. It will also improve the coordination, cooperation and synergy between the key AGA human rights and democratic governance organs, in order to increase their collective leverage and voice. The project brings direct support to six AGA Platform members and others members might benefit indirectly from some project activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The overall objective<\/strong> is to contribute to the achievement of Aspiration 3 and 6 of the African Union\u2019s Agenda 2063 \u201cAn Africa of good governance, respect for human rights, justice and the rule of law\u201d (Aspiration 3) and \u201cAn Africa, whose development is people driven, relying on the potential of African people, especially its women and youth, and caring for children\u201d (Aspiration 6).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The general objective<\/strong> is to strengthen the capacity of African Governance Architecture (AGA) Platform members and to promote the effective coordination and cooperation among them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Required profile<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The consulting firm\/individuals should possess the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. At least 5 years scholarship or research in amicable settlement preferably in human rights disputes<\/li>
  2. Individuals or team members should have at least a Master\u2019s Degree in Law\/International Relations\/ Sociology<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
