Arusha, 2 May 2018: The African Court on Human and Peoples\u2019 Rights (AfCHPR) will hear three applications separately from 8 to 10 May 2018 at its seat in Arusha, Tanzania.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Public Hearings are in the matters of:
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (i) Application 001\/2017 \u2013 Alfred Agbes Woyome v. Republic of Ghana (8 May 2018). The Applicant alleges to have provided engineering financial services to the Respondent State pursuant to an agreement for securing funds for the rehabilitation of the Accra and Kumasi Sports Stadia for the Confederation of the African Cup of Nations Tournament of 2008.The Applicant alleges that, by not respecting the terms of the agreement, the Respondent State violated the rights provided under the Charter<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(ii)Application 013\/2017 – Sebastien Germain Ajavon v. Benin (9 May 2018).
The Applicant alleges that the Respondent State has violated his rights by withdrawing his customs licence and disrupted his radio and television stations\u2019 signals. The Applicant is also alleging that the proceedings instituted against him by the Public Prosecutor and the Benin Customs Services in the cocaine trafficking case was not fair<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0(iii)Application 001\/2015 \u2013 Armand Guehi v. United Republic of Tanzania (10 May 2018). Mr Guehi, an Ivorian national, who has been convicted and sentenced to death for murdering his wife, is challenging the conviction on the ground that it violated his right to a fair trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Public Hearings will be live streamed via\u00a0https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/africancourt\/channels\/live<\/a>\u00a0from 09H30-13H00 and 14H00-1600<\/p>\n\n\n\n
