{"id":7949,"date":"2021-08-03T12:13:28","date_gmt":"2021-08-03T09:13:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.african-court.org\/afchpr\/?p=7949"},"modified":"2021-11-04T17:28:27","modified_gmt":"2021-11-04T14:28:27","slug":"40-lawyers-to-attend-african-court-training-in-arusha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.african-court.org\/afchpr\/40-lawyers-to-attend-african-court-training-in-arusha\/","title":{"rendered":"40 LAWYERS TO ATTEND AFRICAN COURT TRAINING IN ARUSHA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>Arusha, 03 August 2021<\/em><\/strong>: About 40 lawyers registered with the African Court on Human and Peoples\u2019 Rights (AfCHPR) to represent indigent Applicants will attend a three-day training 4-6 August 2021 organised by the Court in collaboration with the European Union at the Seat of the Court in Arusha, Tanzania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the fourth training conducted by the Court since 2017. So far the Court has trained over 110 lawyers from different parts of the African Continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The President of the AfCHPR, Hon. Lady-Justice Imani Daud Aboud, said that the overall objective of the training is to enhance and build the capacity of Counsel to be able to effectively represent Applicants before the Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018\u2019The lawyers will also be updated on the new Rules of Court and other important procedures and aspects of the Court,\u2019\u2019 she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOTES FOR EDITORS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. The AfCHPR was established by virtue of Article 1 of the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples&#8217; Rights on the establishment of an African Court on Human and Peoples&#8217; Rights, to complement the protective mandate of the African Commission on Human and Peoples\u2019 Rights, with a view to enhancing the protection of human rights on the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.
