{"id":2693,"date":"2019-11-08T10:16:00","date_gmt":"2019-11-08T07:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.african-court.org\/wpafc\/african-court-delegation-pays-courtesy-call-on-zanzibar-president\/"},"modified":"2019-11-08T10:16:00","modified_gmt":"2019-11-08T07:16:00","slug":"african-court-delegation-pays-courtesy-call-on-zanzibar-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.african-court.org\/afchpr\/african-court-delegation-pays-courtesy-call-on-zanzibar-president\/?lang=fr","title":{"rendered":"AFRICAN COURT DELEGATION PAYS COURTESY CALL ON ZANZIBAR PRESIDENT"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Zanzibar, 07 November 2019: The African Court Judges led by its President, Hon Justice Sylvain Or\u00e9, today paid a courtesy call on the President of Zanzibar, H.E Dr Ali Mohamed Shein, at State House.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The African Court is holding its 55th Ordinary Session from 4 to 29 November and 10th Extra-Ordinary Session from 2 to 7 December in Zanzibar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the discussions, the President of Zanzibar underscored the importance of human rights as a prerequisite for peace and stability and said that Zanzibar has attached special importance to it. He added that there cannot be any development without peace and stability. This, he said, has resulted in enormous economic, social and political achievements on the Islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added: \u2018\u2019The success has also been contributed by the independence enjoyed by the three arms of government (the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary), which complement each other in the functions of state.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Shein said he was pleased to receive the delegation of the Court. He assured them of the support of his government to ensure that the Sessions were conducted smoothly, and encouraged the Judges and staff to visit the many attractions in Zanzibar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hon Justice Or\u00e9 thanked the Zanzibar government for hosting the sessions and especially for its commitment to peace, unity and the protection of human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018\u2019The Court\u2019s decision to hold the Sessions in Zanzibar is testimony of Zanzibar\u2019s peace and stability and affirms the latter\u2019s commitment to respect for human rights and the dignity of the human being\u201d, Justice Or\u00e9 said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOTES FOR EDITORS:<\/strong><br>1.
