Arusha, 2 November 2026:<\/em><\/strong> The African Court on Human and Peoples\u2019 Rights (AfCHPR) will convene its 83rd<\/sup> Ordinary Session from 9 November \u2013 4 December 2026<\/strong> in Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Court will consider pending applications and deliberate on other related judicial matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the Session period, the African Court, the East African Court of Justice (EACJ), and the Community Court of Justice of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS (CCJ) will jointly convene the 3rd<\/sup> Tripartite Judicial Dialogue from 9 \u2013 10 November 2026<\/strong> in Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dialogue to be held under the theme \u201cStrengthening Institutional Cooperation in Africa\u201d<\/strong><\/em> will cover a range of topics, including the implementation and monitoring of judicial decisions, cooperation among the three Courts, the development of African Jurisprudence Database (AJUDATA), the exchange of jurisprudence and good practices, and environmental rights and climate justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 11-12 November 2026<\/strong>, the Court will host a Colloquium to mark its 20th<\/sup> Anniversary under the theme \u201cReflecting on the Past, Assessing the Present and Reimagining the Future of Human Rights Protection in Africa<\/em>\u201d at its premises in Arusha, Tanzania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will bring together at least 40 invited participants from the judicial, academic and professional communities to reflect on the Court\u2019s achievements, examine its challenges and debate its future role in protecting human and peoples\u2019 rights across the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday 13 November 2026<\/strong>, the Court will hold a public sitting to deliver four (4) decisions in the following cases:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Application 015\/2019 – M\u2019ba Jean Rogier v. Burkina Faso<\/em><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Application 023\/2020 – Babarou Bocoum v. Republic of Mali<\/em><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Application 063\/2019 – Madamelda Afiavi Goudjo epouse Ajavon & 3 Others v. Republic of Benin<\/em><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Application 007\/2022 – Patroklos Tsaperas v. Republic of Malaw<\/em>i<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    1. The African Court on Human and Peoples\u2019 Rights (AfCHPR) is a continental court established by African Union Member States to ensure the protection of human and peoples’ rights in Africa. The Court complements and reinforces the functions of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
