Arusha, le 2 juin 2025<\/em><\/strong> :<\/strong> La Cour africaine des droits de l\u2019homme et des peuples (la Cour) a \u00e9lu l\u2019honorable Juge Modibo Sacko du Mali comme Pr\u00e9sident, et l\u2019honorable Juge Chafika Bensaoula de l\u2019Alg\u00e9rie comme Vice-pr\u00e9sidente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019\u00e9lection s\u2019est tenue aujourd\u2019hui lors de la premi\u00e8re journ\u00e9e de la 7e<\/sup> session ordinaire de la Cour, \u00e0 son si\u00e8ge \u00e0 Arusha (R\u00e9publique-Unie de Tanzanie).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019honorable Juge Sacko succ\u00e8de ainsi \u00e0 l\u2019honorable Juge Imani Daud Aboud, dont le mandat de Pr\u00e9sidente s\u2019est achev\u00e9 apr\u00e8s quatre ann\u00e9es (de 2021 \u00e0 2025) pass\u00e9es \u00e0 la t\u00eate de l\u2019institution. Il a assum\u00e9 les fonctions de Vice-pr\u00e9sident durant les deux derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es de la pr\u00e9sidence de la Juge Aboud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019honorable Juge Chafika Bensaoula succ\u00e8de donc \u00e0 l\u2019honorable Juge Sacko, qui assume d\u00e9sormais les fonctions de Pr\u00e9sident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le nouveau Bureau est en place pour un mandat de deux ans (de 2025 \u00e0 2027), conform\u00e9ment \u00e0 l\u2019article 21 du Protocole relatif \u00e0 la Charte africaine des droits de l\u2019homme et des peuples portant cr\u00e9ation d\u2019une Cour africaine des droits de l\u2019homme et des peuples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. La Cour africaine des droits de l\u2019homme et des peuples (la Cour) est une cour continentale cr\u00e9\u00e9e par les \u00c9tats membres de l\u2019Union africaine afin de renforcer la protection des droits de l\u2019homme et des peuples en Afrique.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. La Cour est un organe de l\u2019Union africaine qui compl\u00e8te et renforce le mandat de la Commission africaine des droits de l\u2019homme et des peuples.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. La Cour se compose de onze juges, ressortissants des \u00c9tats membres de l\u2019Union africaine, \u00e9lus \u00e0 titre individuel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. La Cour se r\u00e9unit quatre fois par an en sessions ordinaires et peut tenir des sessions extraordinaires.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
