{"id":18271,"date":"2025-06-02T22:22:33","date_gmt":"2025-06-02T19:22:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.african-court.org\/wpafc\/?p=18271"},"modified":"2025-06-02T22:22:33","modified_gmt":"2025-06-02T19:22:33","slug":"african-court-on-human-and-peoples-rights-elects-new-president-and-vice-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.african-court.org\/afchpr\/african-court-on-human-and-peoples-rights-elects-new-president-and-vice-president\/","title":{"rendered":"AFRICAN COURT ON HUMAN AND PEOPLES\u2019 RIGHTS ELECTS NEW PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>Arusha, 2 June 2025<\/em><\/strong><strong>:<\/strong> The African Court on Human &amp; Peoples\u2019 Rights (the Court\/AfCHPR) has elected Honourable Justice Modibo Sacko of Mali as its President, and Honourable Lady Justice Bensaoula Chafika of Algeria as the Vice President.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The election took place today during the first day of the Court\u2019s 77<sup>th<\/sup> Ordinary Session, being held at its seat in Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Honourable Justice Sacko takes over from Honourable Lady Justice Imani Daud Aboud, whose term as President has come to an end after four years at the helm, from 2021 to 2025.
