International Women\u2019s Day, the African Court on Human and Peoples\u2019 Rights reaffirms its commitment to protecting women\u2019s rights and ensuring gender equality across the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The African Charter on Human and Peoples\u2019 Rights, the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples\u2019 Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa, commonly known as the Maputo Protocol provide a strong foundation \u2014 but true equality requires action from all of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year\u2019s global theme, \u201cAccelerating Action Towards Gender Equality\u201d urges us to intensify efforts to break barriers and advance women\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In alignment with the African Union\u2019s 2025 theme, \u201cJustice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations,\u201d and the African Court\u2019s theme for 2025, \u201cAdvancing Justice Through Reparations\u201d we acknowledge that true justice for women in Africa requires addressing historical injustices against women and empowering vulnerable and marginalized women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let us work together to build an Africa where every woman and girl can thrive, lead, and inspire future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Hon.
