{"id":14550,"date":"2023-05-22T10:02:44","date_gmt":"2023-05-22T07:02:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.african-court.org\/afchpr\/?p=14550"},"modified":"2023-05-22T11:29:19","modified_gmt":"2023-05-22T08:29:19","slug":"international-human-rights-courts-to-convene-for-third-edition-in-costa-rica-on-may-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.african-court.org\/afchpr\/international-human-rights-courts-to-convene-for-third-edition-in-costa-rica-on-may-25\/","title":{"rendered":"INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS COURTS TO CONVENE FOR THIRD EDITION IN COSTA RICA ON MAY 25"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Arusha, May 22, 2023<\/em><\/strong>: The Inter-American Court of Human Rights, the African Court of Human and Peoples&#8217; Rights, and the European Court of Human Rights will convene for the third biennial Forum in San Jos\u00e9, Costa Rica, from 25 to 26 May 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the success of the inaugural session held in Kampala, Uganda in 2019, the Forum aims to strengthen the bonds of judicial collaboration among these three regional human rights courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President of the African Court, Honorable Lady Justice Imani Daud Aboud, highlighted the Forum&#8217;s significance in promoting open and constructive dialogue, with the ultimate goal of advancing human rights protection and upholding the rule of law on both regional and global scales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Facilitating the exchange of best practices and fostering a common understanding of human rights issues across diverse contexts is of utmost importance for human rights courts,&#8221; emphasized President Aboud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Aboud will lead the African Court Judges and key Registry staff at the Forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Inter-American Court, as the host, anticipates that the Third Edition will serve as a platform for further dialogue and enhanced cooperation among the regional human rights courts, strengthening their collective impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>NOTES FOR EDITORS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. The historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) among the three Regional Courts was signed on October 29, 2019, in Kampala, Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. The first meeting, held under the theme &#8220;Operationalizing the International Human Rights Forum and Enhancing Jurisprudential Dialogue,&#8221; was successfully hosted by the African Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. The Second Edition, organized by the European Court of Human Rights, took place on March 25, 2021, in Strasbourg, France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4.
