Arusha, 17 February 2023<\/em><\/strong>:<\/strong> The African Court on Human and Peoples\u2019 Rights hold a solemn ceremony to mark the opening of its Judicial Year which is expected to be graced by the Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Philip Isdor Mpango.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 200 key human rights stakeholders, including Regional and Sub-Regional Courts, African Union organs with human rights mandate, civil societies, academicians, lawyers, Non-Government Organisations, among others, are expected to attend the opening ceremony whose theme this year is: “Integrating the jurisprudence of regional and international human rights mechanisms into national systems<\/em><\/strong>\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to Tanzania are also expected to attend the colourful event to start with solemn procession of Honourable Judges of the African Court at the seat of the Court in Arusha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ceremony will commence at 10:30 East African Time (EAT)  will follow a hybrid model, and will be live-streamed via https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/africancourt\/live<\/em><\/strong><\/a> .<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018\u2019The solemn ceremony is to highlight the African Court\u2019s existence and enhance its visibility,\u2019\u2019 said the President of the Court, Hon Lady Justice Imani Daud Aboud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the ceremony, the African Court will also host an Intergenerational Dialogue to engage with different cadres of legal professions to train them on the work of the Court and a forward-looking legacy\/evolution of the African Court. The Dialogue would be lived-streamed from 14:30(EA Time) and could be followed via https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/africancourt\/live<\/em><\/strong><\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n
