{"id":10859,"date":"2022-04-04T16:29:54","date_gmt":"2022-04-04T13:29:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.african-court.org\/afchpr\/?p=10859"},"modified":"2022-06-03T16:26:13","modified_gmt":"2022-06-03T13:26:13","slug":"election-and-appointment-of-the-two-new-judges-african-court-human-peoples-rights-afchpr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.african-court.org\/afchpr\/election-and-appointment-of-the-two-new-judges-african-court-human-peoples-rights-afchpr\/","title":{"rendered":"ELECTION AND APPOINTMENT OF THE TWO NEW JUDGES\u00a0OF THE  AFRICAN COURT ON HUMAN &#038; PEOPLES RIGHTS (AFCHPR)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The African Union Commission presents its compliments to the Permanent Missions of all Member States to the African Union and has the honour to refer to the membership of the African Court on Human and Peoples Rights (AfCHPR).<br>The Commission has the honour to inform the esteemed Permanent Missions that the terms of office of the following Judges of the AfCHPR shall expire in July 2022:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ms.<strong> Marie-Theresa MUKAMULISA*<\/strong> (occupying the floating seat)  from <strong>Rwanda<\/strong> elected in June 2016 for a 6-year term<\/li><li>Ms. <strong>Ntyam ONDO MENGUE*<\/strong>  from Cameroon elected in June 2016 for a 6-year term<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Consequently, the Commission would like to draw the attention of the  esteemed Permanent Missions that the election and appointment of the two (2) new Judges will be conducted during the 41st Ordinary Session of the Executive Council, scheduled for June\/July 2022.<br>Against the above, the Commission would like to invite STATES PARTIES to the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples\u2019 Rights on the Establishment of an African Court on Human and Peoples\u2019 Rights (the Protocol) to submit their candidatures\/nominations accompanied by curricula vitae (CVs)<br>of the candidates IN A SEALED ENVELOPE ADDRESSED AND DELIVERED TO THE OFFICE OF THE LEGAL COUNSEL, AU COMMISSION, ON OR <strong>BEFORE 31 May, 2022<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, the CVs should not be more than three (3) pages, single-spaced and should be submitted at least in two (2) working languages of the Union. A model format of the CVs is attached hereto for ease of<br>reference.
